Keeping the History of Duluth, Georgia
Keeping the History of Duluth, Georgia

"Preserving our History, Recording the present and Reaching for the Future”

We are Duluth Georgia’s community educational support group, building strong relationships within our city and county.

We are developing programs of historic interest, all the while taking time to preserve the important history of Duluth, Georgia.  It has such a rich and robust history, and continues to be one of the premier places not only to visit but to live in, in the United States.

While working on these programs, we are compiling lost history and artifacts which we are sharing with this generation to inspire them to compile their history moving forward.

“An open mind has all the possibilities for the future”

Why and When the Duluth Historical Society was Formed

In the year 2000, the stewardship and trust by the early dedicated volunteers formed a foundation upon which to build and provide a large body of knowledge.

From there they became the Duluth Historical Society which fulfilled the need to preserve the history and future of Duluth’s southern heritage.

The evolution  of committed volunteers fulfilled the need to preserve the memory and history of the fundamental development of Duluth, Georgia.

The Duluth Historical Society promotes awareness and preservation of information and resources concerning the history of Duluth and cooperates with other cultural and educational institutions in encouraging historic appreciation and pride in Duluth’s history, culture, art, and traditions.

Present Activities Include:

  • Historical Preservation on the Local, Regional & National Level
  • Building strong relationships within our Community
  • Preserving and Promoting our Heritage, Customs and Traditions
  • Compiling lost History and Artifacts
  • Collecting Photographs of Old Duluth, Families, and Environs
  • Developing Programs of Historic Interest open to the Public
  • State of the City Address

These, In keeping with our motto to “Preserving our history, Recording the present and Reaching for the future”
